Edinburgh – Healthy Active Minds
Information
Who is the service for?
Healthy Active Minds is a physical activity referral programme for inactive adults aged 18 years and over living with mild to moderate depression, stress, anxiety or low mood.
What is offered to patients?
Healthy Active Minds is a 12-week programme designed to support patients to take part in regular physical activity. Once referred to Healthy Active Minds, an automated text is sent to the patient to confirm their referral and inform them of the current wait time. Then one of our Active Communities instructors will contact them to arrange an initial chat. This will help identify their goals and individual needs. Over the 12 weeks they will be given
- guidance to create a personalised physical activity plan, which offers various options including swimming, walking, yoga, and gym workouts.
- the opportunity to participate in Healthy Active Minds classes such as boxing, racquet sports, and gym sessions. This will support patients with peer-to-peer support
- support to make lifestyle changes and stay motivated.
- progress reviews to see how they are getting on
How much does it cost?
During the 12 weeks, the patients will be given an Edinburgh Leisure card which will give them free access to our gyms, swimming pools, and fitness classes. This will be followed by an additional 3 months of subsidised access to these facilities.
What happens after the programme? At the end of their 12-week programme, their instructor will discuss a range of options to help them continue to be physically active. We also have specific membership prices for patients who complete their 12 weeks to keep active for as long as possible.
