The Medical Assessment Unit – Emergency (MAUE) is located at the entrance of the Acute Receiving Unit within the Western General Hospital. Access is gained via the Crewe Road South entrance and parking is available in the multistorey car park. Please note this department is situated in the Outpatient Building which can be accessed via multiple entrances.
How to refer:
All referrals to MAUE must be via the Flow Centre. Contact 03000 134 000, selecting option 1 and then option 4.
GPs must complete a Sci gateway referral as well as the WGH Flow Centre referral.
Once a referral has been confirmed by the Flow Centre, patient information can be provided by the referrer. The MAUE Patient Information Leaflet (Welcome to Medical Assessment Unit – Emergency) can be found under the links & resources section.
