Information
Sudden onset of a painful hip or knee, limp or inability to WB.
Boys more affected than girls
Most common around between 3 and 8 years of age, but can occur younger and older.
There is fluid around the hip which causes pain.
Usually unilateral,
Often associated with an intercurrent illness
O/e there is pain on hip flexion abduction, and internal / external rotation.
