Sexual Health Clinics

Sexual Health – local (peripheral) clinics

Patients need to pre-book and there is no walk-in service.   Please see ‘how to refer’ for further details.

Lothian Sexual Health clinics are distributed throughout Lothian. They offer a range of sexual health services for men and women of all ages. All peripheral clinics offer:

  • Contraception information and provision including condoms and emergency contraception
  • STI testing for men and women including for HIV
  • Pregnancy testing/counselling/referral, emergency contraception
  • Cervical screening (opportunistically where the woman is attending for another reason: routine screening is offered in general practice)
  • Menopause and premenstrual syndrome advice
  • Implant and IUD insertion and removal.

If for any reason, the peripheral clinic is unable to provide the sexual health service needed, the patient will be guided to a service elsewhere. For urgent or complex problems, the clinic will arrange for the patient to be seen at Chalmers Centre for Sexual Health in Edinburgh.

Please see peripheral clinics and what they offer – this link can helpfully be shared with patients.
