Information
- Patients with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease or related movement disorders such as PSP, MSA, CBD, Lewy Body Dementia, Parkinson’s Dementia are assessed by a multidisciplinary team consisting of Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy
- The Edinburgh Parkinson’s Assessment Clinic (EPAC) is based at the Assessment & Rehabilitation Centre in the Royal Victoria Building, Western General Hospital
- EPAC is held on weekly on Wednesday afternoon between 13.30 and 16.30
Who to refer:
- People with a recent diagnosis of parkinsonism who Ideally have already had an initial appointment with the Parkinson’s Disease Specialist Nurses
- People who have been diagnosed elsewhere with parkinsonism and are new to the area.
- People should be referred at time of diagnosis and may be re-referred at any time in their journey.
Who not to refer:
- Patients who may find it difficult to attend an outpatient clinic. In such cases, consultation by telephone or video (NHS NearMe) can be offered.
