Community Occupational Therapy Pathway

Information

East Lothian Council Community Occupational Therapy service sits within East Lothian Rehabilitation Service (ELRS).

Occupational Therapy aims to support people by enabling them to live more independently within their home environment. We carry out assessments and interventions within the persons home and find solutions to enable greater independence.

This may include:

  • Functional Assessment of Activities of Daily Living
    • Transfers e.g. chair/bed/toilet
    • Kitchen assessment
    • Bathing assessments
  • Graded rehabilitation practice
  • Provision of equipment
  • Moving and Handling assessment
  • Assessment of Postural needs (including in care homes) eg. individualised seating, sleep systems
  • Assessments for Major Adaptations e.g. wet floor showers, stair lifts, ramps
