Blue Badge Assessment Service

Information

The Blue Badge Assessment Service screen and assess applications against Transport Scotland’s Code of Practice on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council. Other councils have their own arrangements in place for assessing eligibility.

If required, face-to-face assessments are carried out at the SMART Centre, Astley Ainslie Hospital in Edinburgh.

Not applicable. Those who are potentially eligible need to apply directly (see Resources and Links).

Who to refer:

The following may be eligible to apply – People with mobility issues (being actually or virtually unable to walk) or people who have a conditon that means they lack awareness of the danger from traffic that is likely to compromise their safety or the safety of others (Risk in Traffic Criteria). Eligibility can be checked before applying via the UK Government’s website (see Resources and Links).
