Red flags – No Trauma
History
- Joint effusions > 1 Joint
- Spontaneous onset symptoms
- Unremitting pain
- Symptoms in one or multiple joints
- Significant morning stiffness
- Systemic upset
Secondary care referral
- If septic arthritis excluded, consider referral to rheumatology e.g. Rheumatoid arthritis
Primary care investigations
- Baseline bloods, including ESR, CRP, FBC, ANA
- X-Ray
