There are normally Stress Control Classes available in Edinburgh, East and Mid Lothian for anyone over eighteen wishing to learn how to manage stress more effectively. However these have been suspended because of Covid and a Stress Control online version is available instead.
Other options available free include:
- POSITIVE MENTAL HEALTH
- Guided Self Help
- Trauma and PTSD services – the Rivers Centre
- Veterans First Point
- Online wellbeing self-referral modules
Counselling can be beneficial for people experiencing relationship difficulties, anxiety or stress, bereavement or loss, feelings of hurt or rejection, change or loss of confidence.
Other resources include exercise for mental health, cCBT, telephone-based services and reading, with books available on prescription or from local libraries.
Please see the Mental Health (Psychology and Other Services) for more detail.
MIDLOTHIAN
The Midlothian Access Point provides a drop-in service for any who are stressed or need psychological help: Stress MidLothian Access Point.pdf
ANGER
Mental Health Services do not currently provide interventions where the primary issue is anger management. Alternatives to Violence Project provides workshops for a fee and for people who live in Edinburgh, Safer Families is available for men who have been abusive; there is a parallel programme for women, too
AMH can assess for co-morbid mental health problems.
