Midlothian Active Choices (MAC) and Ageing Well activities
MAC is a referral scheme for adults, aged 18 and over, who are sedentary or inactive and suffer from mild/moderate mental health conditions (anxiety/depression).
The service agrees goals and action plans to help people become more active, initially with a one-to-one consultation. Activity can accompany usual treatments such as medication, or replace them, providing more holistic treatment of mental health problems. In addition to support to set goals and develop a programme, service users are provided with a MAC card which entitles them to reduced cost access to Midlothian leisure facilities. Patients are regularly followed up and their action plan goals reviewed with the project coordinator.
Please see Midlothian Active Choices for further detail, including how to contact the service. Please give anyone wishing to be referred a MAC patient briefing sheet.
