DESMOND

Diabetes Education and Self-Management for Ongoing and Newly Diagnosed (DESMOND)

This is an educational programme for those newly diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. We offer a full day educational course face to face or alternative online options.

The programme includes:

  • Information on Type 2 Diabetes, the causes and impact it has on the body
  • The chance to share thoughts and feelings around being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.
  • Practical healthy lifestyle advice in order that patients can help manage their health and help avoid complications
  • Peer support and the opportunity to share experiences with others

If a patient can’t commit to a day course face to face or remotely they can be given access to My DESMOND, an online app https://www.mydesmond.com/home/
