- All methods of contraception including emergency contraception, contraceptive implant insertion and removal and IUD/S insertion.
- Vasectomy assessment and referral
- Female laparascopic sterilisation discussion, assessment and referral
Who to refer:
- Women with complex problems e.g. contraindications, unscheduled bleeding, side effects, ineffective use
- Women who opt for LARC method where that is not available locally
- Women with non-visible threads who wish removal/replacement of IUD
- Men who request vasectomy
- Women who need to reconsider options with a view to female sterilisation
Who not to refer:
Women who are well established on a suitable, effective method of contraception and for whom there are no contraindications (please see UK MEC – Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use opens a new window).
How to refer:
