Welcome to the RefHelp homepage for the South East of Scotland Regional Genetics Service. These pages provide basic information about the South East Scotland Genetic Service including the variety of genetic disorders we assess and the services we offer. Information is divided into sections aimed at patients, health professionals and students, but all of the content is freely available.
The Genetic Service is based at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. We are located in the David Brock Building, which is on Porterfield Road, in front of the main Out Patients Department building, and across from the Royal Victoria Building. Entry is through the blue door at the Crewe Road end.
We are one of the four Genetics Clinics serving Scotland and cover Lothian, Borders, and Fife (except the East Neuk). General genetics clinics are offered in various hospitals within this area including St Johns Hospital, Queen Margaret Hospital and Victoria Hospital. Several specialist clinics including Neurogenetics, Marfan Syndrome and Endocrine Genetics, are held in Edinburgh. Referrals can be made by any of the following routes:
