Information
The COPD Psychology Service seeks to enable the patients to become more confident in the self-management of COPD, to develop effective coping strategies, and improve their general mental wellbeing. The COPD psychology service reviews patients with complex mental health issues related to the management of their COPD, as well as contributing to the ongoing training and support of staff delivering low-intensity psychological interventions.
The COPD Psychology service currently operates on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays between 8.30am-4.30pm.

Who to refer:
- Patients can only be referred to the COPD Psychology service through the CRT. Therefore if you think your patient would be suitable for this service please refer to the CRT in the first instance – see below: “how to refer”
AND
- Patients whose primary source of distress or concern is related to living with COPD, or whose mental health symptoms are impacting their ability to effectively manage their COPD
Who not to refer:
- Patients who are experiencing an acute mental health crisis (refer to MHAS)
