Key points from the above documents (not exhaustive)
- Less common cause of chronic shoulder pain but can cause significant pain and disability
- Primary osteoarthritis is rare, secondary osteoarthritis accounts for the majority of cases such as following trauma, surgery, chronic rotator cuff tear
- Presents with deep joint pain and global restriction of active and passive shoulder movement
- Reduced passive external rotation key sign
- X-ray required to confirm the diagnosis
- Important to note that restricted passive external rotation is seen in other disorders such as frozen shoulder, avascular necrosis and dislocation.
