{"id":8332,"date":"2022-07-21T13:41:37","date_gmt":"2022-07-21T12:41:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/?page_id=8332"},"modified":"2024-04-16T14:57:02","modified_gmt":"2024-04-16T13:57:02","slug":"knee-physiotherapy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/guidelines\/musculoskeletalphysiotherapy\/knee-physiotherapy\/","title":{"rendered":"Knee-Physiotherapy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/files\/sites\/2\/MSK-Physio-Knee.png\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/files\/sites\/2\/MSK-Physio-Knee.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download Flowchart<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Knee<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>MSK Physiotherapy services across the four Health and Social Care Partnerships and the department at the Western General Hospital accept referrals from primary care clinicians for people with knee problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Orthopaedic Consultant and associated team referrals for people with knee problems are accepted by MSK Physiotherapy services across the four Health and Social Care Partnerships, the department at the Western General Hospital and The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some lower complex Orthpaedic knee referrals may be re-routed to MSK Physiotherapy services at the point of initial triage by the Orthopaedic team. These referrals can be returned to Orthopaedics by MSK Physiotherapy if the person fails to make satisfactory progress or if at the point of triage or initial assessment within MSK Physiotherapy that the persons needs would be best served by an Orthopaedic opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the current time there is no direct pathway from MSK Physiotherapy Services in the community setting into Orthopaedics.
