Females are 9 times more likely to present with the condition than males, 23% of 18-25 year old\u2019s and 35% of over 65\u2019s develop bunions. Not all bunions become painful. Pressure from footwear can cause increasing pain and deformity. In some instances, the joint can develop arthritic change and become painful.<\/td><td>\u200bHallux Rigidus refers to degenerative changes in the big toe joint, which can cause limitation of movement, and a painful swollen joint. This condition affects 1 in 40 individuals over 50 years and is twice as common in females.
