{"id":4403,"date":"2022-05-03T11:47:20","date_gmt":"2022-05-03T10:47:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/guidelines\/samedayemergencycaresdec\/"},"modified":"2024-05-17T13:51:41","modified_gmt":"2024-05-17T12:51:41","slug":"samedayemergencycaresdec","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/guidelines\/admissionsurgentcare\/samedayemergencycaresdec\/","title":{"rendered":"Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-light-accent-blue-background-color has-background wp-block-paragraph\">The Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) department provides same day urgent assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients referred via a GP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Service Information<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The service is currently available 8.00am \u2013 8.00pm, Monday \u2013 Sunday.&nbsp; For general queries please contact: <strong>0131 537 1938.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The department is located at the Medical Assessment Unit, Base 2 within the Western General Hospital.&nbsp; Access is gained via the Crewe Road South entrance and parking is available in Car Park 1.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Patients must be ambulatory and able to make their own way to hospital, with the referral pathway based on clinical need and not presenting condition.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please see individual tabs above for condition-specific referral pathways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Referral Criteria<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Inclusion Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>GP advises that patient requires acute secondary care assessment and treatment, but not hospital admission<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patient must be able to make their own way to hospital, transfer from chair to chair without assistance, and attend to their own personal care (or do so with the accompaniment of a carer)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Exclusion Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Patients under the age of 16 years old<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Non-ambulatory patients.
