A summary of the intervention is provided back to the referrer and care team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Email advice for queries regarding the suitability of a referral is available on RHCYP.dietetics@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dietetic Secretary at Royal Hospital for Children and Young People: 0131 312 1075<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>JB &amp; AC 31.12.21<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs\" data-active-tab=\"0\"><ul class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__nav-links\"><\/ul>\n<div class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__nav-link\"><span class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__title-wrapper\"><a href=\"#\"><span class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__title\">Referral Guidelines<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__tab-content-wrapper\"><div class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__tab-content\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who to refer:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Faltering growth: Please ensure history of growth measurements history included: see Primary Care Management section for advice on classification of faltering growth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food allergy including CMPA:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please note peanut allergy should be referred directly to Medical Paediatrics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Non-IgE CMPA \u2013<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/guidelines\/paediatrics\/allergy\/cows-milk-protein-allergy-cmpa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cow\u2019s Milk Protein Allergy (CMPA) \u2013 RefHelp (nhslothian.scot)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IgE CMPA\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Advise to avoid cows milk protein and prescribe allergy formula if appropriate (<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/files\/sites\/2\/Appendix-3-Prescribing-allergy-formula.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/files\/sites\/2\/Appendix-3-Prescribing-allergy-formula.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Prescribing allergy formula\u2019s<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If combination fed and infant did not previously react to cow\u2019s milk in maternal diet please advise Mum to continue to keep cow\u2019s milk in her diet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dietetics to provide skin prick testing on receipt of referral in order to confirm diagnosis. Dietetics to offer milk free weaning advice and reintroduction at 12 months as appropriate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please advise to avoid lactose free milks\/products as these contain cow\u2019s milk protein.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Infants with nutrition related co-morbidity, for example: congenital heart disease, cleft palate, developmental delay<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Infants and children on home enteral tube feeds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Information to include in referral<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Current weight and height with trend\/history<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Outline nutritional concern.
