It is caused by repeated stress of the Achilles tendon into the calcaneus.&nbsp; This stress results in the area becoming inflamed and painful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most common symptoms of Severs are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Heel pain either during or after participation in sports or activity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pain on palpation of heel or distal Achilles tendon \u2013 can also be sore down into plantar fascia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reluctance to weight bear through heel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tightness of quads, hamstrings and calves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These symptoms usually appear gradually and often after periods of growth.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>M.A. &amp; M-J.S. 07-04-24<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs\" data-active-tab=\"0\"><ul class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__nav-links\"><\/ul>\n<div class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__nav-link\"><span class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__title-wrapper\"><a href=\"#\"><span class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__title\">Primary Care Management<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__tab-content-wrapper\"><div class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__tab-content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please give out patient information leaflet<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Activity modification \u2013&nbsp;<strong>not<\/strong>&nbsp;complete rest, reduce activity, especially those that aggravate pain but continue with activities that do not aggravate pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stretching \u2013 hamstrings, quads, glutes and calves<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ice and simple analgesia<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Refer to physiotherapy if above measures have been tried and symptoms not settling.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__nav-link\"><span class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__title-wrapper\"><a href=\"#\"><span class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__title\">Resources and Links<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__tab-content-wrapper\"><div class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__tab-content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/files\/sites\/2\/RHCYP-Severs-Disease-V4.1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RHCYP-Severs-Disease-V4.1.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8203;Information Most common cause of heel pain in children and adolescents is Severs Disease.
