in particular that there can be occasional spuriously&nbsp;high INR readings in patients with&nbsp;antiphospholipid syndrome<\/span>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/files\/sites\/2\/MEMO-re-HAEMATOLOGY-TESTS-clinically-important-information-9-Dec-2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">MEMO re HAEMATOLOGY TESTS &#8211; clinically important information 9 Dec 2021.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Department of Haematology is based at the Royal Infirmary, the Western General and St John\u2019s:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>RIE manages non-malignant haematology, including haemoglobinopathy and red cell disorders, haemophilia and thrombosis, and specific expertise round ITP and apheresis with Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) for TTP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All those needing preconception or pregnancy advice should be referred to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The WGH is the cancer centre so the majority of haemato-oncology is managed there.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>St John\u2019s Hospital, Livingston, also manages both benign and malignant conditions, including delivering chemotherapy, but does not undertake a full range of procedures (eg bone marrow transplants etc).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All GP referrals are triaged daily during the working week, and redirected where necessary,&nbsp;
