By showing calm confidence, encouraging small steps toward challenges, and reducing avoidance, they can nurture their child\u2019s sense of capability and resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> <strong><u>Computerised CBT for Parents<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     <em><strong>What is it?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An online program parents\/carers can complete at their own pace, whenever and wherever it suits them &#8211; on their computer, tablet, or phone. Two options are available:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Supporting an Anxious Child (ages 5\u201311)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Supporting an Anxious Teen (ages 12\u201318)<\/em><br><br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>     <em><strong>How will it help?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These programs are based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), the recommended approach for managing anxiety. Relaxation exercises can reduce physical tension, slow racing thoughts, and create a sense of safety for children and young people experiencing anxiety. It helps them understand what anxiety is, how it connects to their thoughts, physical feelings and behaviours, and, most importantly, supports them to develop practical strategies for coping with anxiety and managing situations or activities they find difficult.<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>What does it involve?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LIAM involves your child meeting one\u2011to\u2011one with a trained LIAM practitioner to work through nine structured, workbook\u2011based sessions. Children and young people set their own goals and are encouraged to complete tasks between sessions to help them practise the skills they are learning.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>How can it be accessed?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delivered by trained school staff, such as Pupil Support Officers (PSOs) and School Nurses. We recommend speaking to a member of staff at your child\u2019s school to check whether LIAM is available and to discuss whether a referral might be appropriate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Suitability for LIAM is assessed for each child individually<\/strong>, considering their level of anxiety, triggers, background factors and any other conditions. <strong>LIAM is not suitable for all children who experience anxiety<\/strong>, and some may benefit more from alternative support.
