We aim to provide appointments as close to home as possible as our capacity allows.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We accept referrals for patients aged 0-15 (up until their 16<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;birthday).&nbsp; Referrals can be made via SCI Gateway and will be triaged daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have any queries regarding a referral, please contact our physiotherapy team on 0131 312 1079<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>M.A. &amp; P.H. 20-01-25<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs\" data-active-tab=\"0\"><ul class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__nav-links\"><\/ul>\n<div class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__nav-link\"><span class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__title-wrapper\"><a href=\"#\"><span class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__title\">Referral Guidelines<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__tab-content-wrapper\"><div class=\"wp-block-getwid-tabs__tab-content\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who can refer:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We accept referrals from General Practitioners and other health care professionals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also accept self referrals for patient\u2019s who have previously been assessed in the physiotherapy department and are re-presenting with the same \/ similar condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who to refer:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We accept referrals for patients aged 0-15 (up until their 16<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;birthday)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Urgent<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please refer the following patients for urgent review:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Significantly reduced ROM with\/without trauma<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Post surgical patients + post cast removal of complex patients<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avulsion # Hip\/Pelvis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recent dislocation patella and shoulder following medical assessment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Back and Neck Pain in child 10 and under.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spinal pathway for scoliosis assessment for band 7 ( 4- 6 weeks as agreed )<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Torticollis \/ SMT<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Concerns over potential Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New atraumatic altered gait ( please see Limp &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/guidelines\/paediatricorthopaedics\/limp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/guidelines\/paediatricorthopaedics\/limp\/<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Routine<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have a wide range of information leaflets available on common paediatric musculoskeletal conditions.&nbsp; These leaflets provide an explanation and detail the management for each condition.&nbsp; These leaflets are available on the main orthopaedic page and can be accessed via this link: <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/guidelines\/paediatricorthopaedics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/guidelines\/paediatricorthopaedics\/<\/a> .&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please provide the appropriate leaflet to the patient prior to referring where possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pain after participation in sports \/ activities (such as osgood schlatters,&nbsp; anterior knee pain, severs)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Back Pain 11 years and over<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patients provided with advice however symptoms are persisting.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who not to refer:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Presence of red flags \u2013 please direct to orthopaedics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inflammatory conditions \u2013 please direct to rheumatology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patients from West Lothian \u2013 please refer to SJH team<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patient aged 16 and over \u2013 please refer to adult MSK services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to refer:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Referrals can be made via SCI Gateway (<em>AHP &#8211; Physiotherapy &gt; Edinburgh &#8211; Royal Hosp.
