In addition to the below, please check the relevant specialty RefHelp pages for alternative referral pathways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Patients with ongoing fevers &gt;38<sup>o<\/sup>C or symptoms of infection of more than 3 weeks duration, documented in a temperature diary, where no other explanation for the fever is apparent, especially if the patient is immunocompromised, please refer to<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/guidelines\/infectiousdiseases\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/guidelines\/infectiousdiseases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Infectious Diseases<\/a> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Post covid breathlessness including when pulmonary embolism is suspected; respiratory pathway <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/guidelines\/respiratory\/postcovidbreathlessness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/Respiratory\/post-covid-breathlessness<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patients with breathlessness, tachycardia, or reduced exercise intolerance can be referred for a 12 lead ECG initially. If this is abnormal an echocardiogram can be requested directly, (see&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/guidelines\/referrals-for-echocardiography\/\" target=\"_blank\">referrals for echocardiography<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patients with persistent tachycardia can be requested to have ambulatory monitoring (see&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/guidelines\/directaccessambulatoryecgmonitoring\/\" target=\"_blank\">Direct Access Ambulatory ECG<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For further cardiology unexplained weight loss) should be urgently referred via the appropriate USOC Sci Gateway pathway see <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cancerreferral.scot.nhs.uk\/Home\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>http:\/\/www.cancerreferral.scot.nhs.uk\/Home<\/strong><\/a><strong>. <\/strong>GPs can refer directly for CT scan of the chest \/ abdomen \/ pelvis for those with non-specific features concerning for malignancy <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/guidelines\/paediatric\/paediatric-radiology\/gpaccesstoctforsuspectedcancernoclinicallyobviousprimary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/Oncology\/gp-access-to-ct-for-suspected-cancer-(no-clinically-obvious-primary)<\/a> &nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>GP Practices within the pilot scheme can
