{"id":11093,"date":"2022-10-10T08:48:40","date_gmt":"2022-10-10T07:48:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/?page_id=11093"},"modified":"2026-01-16T12:02:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T12:02:07","slug":"east-lothian-community-respiratory-pathway","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/apps.nhslothian.scot\/refhelp\/guidelines\/respiratory\/east-lothian-community-respiratory-pathway\/","title":{"rendered":"East Lothian Community Respiratory Pathway"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Information<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The East Lothian Community Respiratory Pathway is hosted within the East Lothian Rehabilitation Service (ELRS) and is delivered by a team of Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners (APP\u2019s) based in the community. The team has close links with the Respiratory Consultants in the RIE, attending fortnightly MDT\u2019s and the Respiratory Nurse Specialists for time sensitive, specialist advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The team\u2019s role is to support the management of patients with long-term respiratory conditions including (but not limited to) COPD, Bronchiectasis and Asthma\/COPD overlap. This support can be during periods of acute exacerbations, for prevention of admissions, supported discharge from hospital or for identified longer term self-management needs. Many of the team are qualified, independent non-medical prescribers who can prescribe during acute exacerbations and refer for Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs).
