for the prevention of influenza\u00a0in Adults and Adolescents at Higher Risk of Developing Influenza Complications. CD388 is a novel\u00a0long-acting\u00a0antiviral conjugate\u00a0which is\u00a0made up of two parts: Zanamivir: a medicine that fights viruses which has been approved for treating and preventing the flu for over 20 years, and a Human immunoglobulin antibody: A protein from humans that helps the body fight off germs and infections.\u00a0 In this study Cidara Theraputics Inc. were looking to compare the drug  with a placebo to evaluate if it\u00a0is more effective at stopping people from getting the flu with symptoms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For this study there were two patient groups of interest; Stratum A which includes non-immunocompromised participants who have chronic stable medical conditions that increase the risk of influenza complications, and otherwise healthy adults &gt;65 years of age, and stratum B which includes participants who are immunocompromised either due to underlying disease or receipt of immunosuppressive medications. It is intended that this long-acting antiviral conjugate can be used as an additional layer of protection along with the seasonal influenza vaccine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After receiving CD388 participants will be followed up with a combination of phone calls and in-person visits for a six month period. During this time participants will also be asked to complete a symptom diary to flag any Acute Respiratory Illness to the study
