all over Europe to share their work in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conference, hosted by the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), took place at the Messe Munich Exhibition &amp; Congress Center. The five-day programme featured a wide range of high-quality talks, bringing together delegates from across the field to share knowledge and ideas. For all who attended, ESCMID provided a valuable opportunity to learn, network, and take insights back to their teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CIRG was well represented this year, with strong attendance, multiple poster presentations, a case study presentation and recognition through an award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dr Joseph Anderson<\/strong> presented a cases study titled  &#8220;When you hear hoofbeats, sometimes it&#8217;s camels not horses: an unexpected case of in vitro gentamicin-resistant Brucella melitensis epididymo-orchitis&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our clinical Research Fellow <strong>Dr Katy Roberts<\/strong> took her poster on <em>Staphylococcus aureus<\/em>&nbsp;bacteremia and RSV co-infections which she had worked on closely with other CIRG members <strong>Dr Simon Dewar, Dr Rebecca Sutherland<\/strong> and <strong>Dr Clark Russell<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dr Calum Cairncross<\/strong> and <strong>Dr Iain Page<\/strong> presented their poster &#8220;A Comprehensive Review of CPA and NTM co-infection in Secondary Care in Edinburgh, Scotland&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dr Iain Page<\/strong> also presented a poster of his work titled &#8216;Life-threatening haemoptysis secondary to chronic pulmonary aspergillosis treated with a single fraction of radiotherapy: a case report and review of the literature&#8217; in collaboration with <strong>Dr Katy Roberts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dr Rebecca Sutherland<\/strong> took a her poster &#8220;A reminder to never stop questioning: how the correct sample will get the diagnosis, but curve balls will distract the infection doctor&#8221;. While she was there she attended the SNAP PIs committee meeting and EVASG (vaccines) committee members meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whilst in Munich, <strong>Dr Oliver Koch<\/strong> attended the id.Drive Investigator Meeting and gaining insight in to what might be coming next for the study,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CIRG was also involved as a participating site in the IONOE study, which presented a poster highlighting the latest results<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A highlight of the conference came when <strong>Dr Clark Russell<\/strong> was awarded the <strong>Young Investigator Award<\/strong> in recognition of outstanding work.
